I hope Bob is correct. But as things stand American workers have lost about 10% of their investment since the Tariffs began. Don't get me wrong I do want Trump to succeed for the American People. But it will take about 3 years to relocated factories back in the USA. In the meantime the tariffs could well be inflationary -- further stressing out American workers who have already lost 20% of the value of their money since the Plandemic began 5 years ago. During the Housing Bubble (2009) investors lost nearly 50% of their investment holdings and it took nearly 10 years to claw back those losses. The working class needs a bailout yet the budget bill, in process, will divert even more money to the super rich. THIS has got to be reversed.
Maria Bartiromo warns that ‘timing is of the essence’ for Trump’s tariffs

I have long felt that these chains would eventually fail. Prices kept going up while what you got kept going down. It is no surprise to me that local resturants are now failing. The entire economy is now out of sync. We are in trouble.
The way I see it, Trump is more qualified than most anyone I know of due to his come backs from multiple bankruptcies. I could be wrong, but like Bruce eluded to, there are too many coincidences to me that point to Trump being on a God given mission. I know it would seem he'd have a temperament more like Dr. Ben Carson if he was though....
I know that you are very much in earnest, Bruce, and that you worked hard on this lengthy newsletter issue. But, having read the whole misbegotten thing, I can only conclude that you are a well-meaning but sadly underinformed fearmonger. I will ask you a year from now if you still hold all these beliefs and expectations.
How do you think I'm misinformed? I certainly want Trump to support the American People. I just wonder how much more inflation etc. the American People are suppose to endure. The Tech Oligarchs are largely insulated/immune to the effects of his tariff policies. In fact they have largely benefited from the Plandemic.
I wouldn't know where to begin, except to encourage you to approach the whole thing more from your heart and less from your mind (fine mind though it is). Just have patience, doubt your doubts, dismiss your fears, and trust God's plan. (It's not Trump's plan, after all; he's just heeding God's plan.) Let's return to this discussion in a year.
Thanks for writing. I've been writing now for about 36 years. I do write from my heart in the sense that I want the best for the American People. But as a journalist I let the facts take me wherever they lead. For instance my focus, when I began writing in 1989, was Cannabis Legalization. At that time there was only minority support for this as majority support did not occur till around 2009. Now we can grow or purchase Cannabis legally, which was afterall my goal. But in the early days I got a lot of flack. I recall organizing a meeting where a father almost fought me because his son had died of an overdose. Fortunately I was able to avoid a confrontation. I also talked with him after the meeting and empathized with his loss.
But my compatriots in the "legalization" movement suffered much more than I. My friend Tom Crosslin was murdered by local, state and federal law enforcement because was also pushing for "legalization." He ran "Rainbow Farm," in Jones Michigan from around 1993 till a week before 911 (2001) when he and his partner were murdered. His crime? Organizing Cannabis festivals that brought thousands of activists together to push ballot initiatives which eventually led to changes in the laws. I was always aware the same thing could have happened to me. Fortunately at 70 I am still standing. I was more careful than most. I never carried Cannabis with me when attending events and I never brought even close activists to my home because you never know who is "controlled opposition."
I think most of my readers are Trump supporters which probably explains why my recent essays got less reads. The titles of my last two essays infer I have concerns about Trump. I'm not the least bit surprised. The way I write my essays is also not everyone's "cup of tea." They are much more information dense than what you would read in a newpaper article, for instance. It would literally take days to read all the cited essays and videos with in a given essay. In fact many of my essays would be 40-60 pages in length if you printed them out.
One of the concerns that Fitts, and others have, is that Trumps true intent is to destroy the dollar and push us toward a digital currency, which the EU is already doing. They are trying to implement a digitall currency by Sept. 2025. Why would Trump and EU nations want to debase their currencies you might ask. It allows governments to pay back their debts in cheaper dollars. You would be forgiven if you find that counterintuitive. I once did too.
Just yesterday a Republican Congressman asked, regarding the tariffs, "whose neck do I get to choke," if this doesn't work. Because if it doesn't work, or it takes years to work, his constituents could lose 30% of the value of their investments. Those without investment are going to see sky high inflation which could bring in a "blue wave" in the 2026 midterms. Because of Trump's and Biden's policies the American people have already witnessed a 20% reduction in the value of their money: due to inflation spurred by vast overspending. Young adults are remaining in their parents homes much later because this has been going on for decades. They are also not having as many children, than previous generations, for the same reason. They can't afford it.
Frankly I don't like living "in interesting times." But. Here we are. LOL
I am loving these "interesting times," Bruce. I believe it's what we were born for. And, though I understand your thoughts and concerns, for the most part I don't share them. For instance, I don't appreciate you lumping Trump's policies with Biden's. And did you say that that fellow's son died from a cannabis overdose? Is that even possible? Anyway, I look forward to your eyes being opened regarding our President's intentions and approaches. I believe you'll be a Trump supporter, yourself, by the end of 2025.
I am a Trump supporter but I'm not a mindless partisan. When he fucks up I'm going to call him out. That does not mean I regret him winning as I voted for him. And I don't know where this came from:
"And did you say that that fellow's son died from a cannabis overdose? Is that even possible?"
I know I didn't say anything close to that. I've been consuming Cannabis for over 50 years and published a magazine on drug policy from 1989-1997. To be clear you cannot overdose on Cannabis. Where did you get that idea? What I said is my friend Tom Crosslin was murdered by law enforcement. Read the article on Rainbow Farm in the link above.
There are many smart people that were concerned about his tariff strategy which explains why he suspended the tariffs. Thank goodness for that. While it is true other nations have taken advantage of us, on tariffs, no one wants to see the American People suffer any more than they already have. Tariffs, if imposed, are taxes on the American People. The hope is that they can reach deals and not have to go through with imposing tariffs.
Trump was also wrong pushing mRNA "gene editing" jabs. Thanksfully one of his supporters explained the problem and he appears to be reversing his position. Operation Warp Speed and the Plandemic shut down were terrible mistakes on his part as I said as early as March 2020.
